Hello 2018 and a new year of budgeting!! Hooray!! I had a pretty insanely hectic holiday season coordinating with all the relatives and my sister’s family flying in from Malaysia! Whew! The holidays were great and all but I am ready to get this new year started! Kids go back to school on Monday and we are back in business ya’ll! Thank goodness!

Sweater Blazer | Custom White Kitten Heels
Thoughts on what I bought:
- Jcrew Sweater Blazer–$90: Size Small. This camel sweater blazer has the been drape EVER! And I have been stalking it FOREVER. So versatile and great thick weight. This item has been marked no promos which means you cannot use a promo code. But for some reason, it happened one day there was a sale and the exclusion was in place. Score!! Retail is $138.
- Jcrew Lavender Sweater–sold out (similar, similar, similar )– $24: Size XS-I love this sweater and so bummed that it completed sold out in all colors! Oversized and the knot is a dream on this “apple shaped” body. No tightness around the belly is a yes!!!
- Anthropologie Pom Pom Keychain–$15: I was killing some time here one day and saw this pom pom and it was love at first sight! I NEVER buy anything on a whim but the muted colors on this are soooo pretty. I am a sucker for pom poms!
- Madewell White Oversized Boyfriend Shirt – $58: Size Small. Basic drapey, oversized white staple shirt. Not see thru is a must!!
- Madewell Waffle Sweater Coat-$28 (used gift card of $40, on sale for $68): Size XS. I really have no idea how I scored this coat. I was in the sale section and got an extra 30%. I think it was a return due to some piling but I’m ok with it. I think it adds to the charm 🙂
- Shoes of Prey Gold Kitten Heels– $103: I loved my white ones that I ordered another pair in matte gold!
Sweatshirt (gift) | Satin Bowtie Shirt
2017 Budget Summary
Total Budget: $2400
This month: $125
Spent Year to Date: $2548
I went over my yearly budget by $148**
Luxury Handbags (2 per year): 4/2 (super, super on BAN island)
Luxury Small Goods (2 per year): 2/2
Leopard Coat (gift) sold out (similar, similar)
Reflecting back, I actually did pretty good for 2017 despite going over slightly. You try to keep on track and things happen (like the sweater blazer I got on sale that was a total computer error fluke and totally worth it). I am happy with my yearly clothing spending!
I did go over overboard with my luxury items this year. The Chanel WOC was a total splurge as I LOVE the color! The Chanel Caviar PST was on major sale and a great nude color. I love the gold hardware! And the Gucci Marmont was a major reward when I worked my arse-er tail off for 6 weeks straight on an RFP (that we came in 2nd!)- whew super exhausted! And finally the LV Speedy 25 DE is seriously the most used bag I have and picked it up at Fashionphile while in California! So I call it a win this year!
One thing I have noticed over the years keeping a budget is that I feel that I need less quantity of items and more higher quality. And with building a classic wardrobe I don’t need as many things in general. And that is very satisfying!
