What is Classic Style?

The definition is: “A classic fashion is a style that lasts for several seasons, sometimes even years, and is accepted by a wide range of people. Classics are those styles that you don’t even have to think about. You just know they will be acceptable from one year to the next.” Spokeman-Review

That sounds about right to me! Let’s take this a little bit further shall we. What is classic “chic” style? To me, I believe adding a few elements that take a simple classic outfit to an elevated higher level is considered chic.

My Elements

  1. Classic style shoes: It could be boots, heels, or nice flats. In my case, I am wearing cap toed sling backs originally designed by Chanel. These are not Chanel but rather a similar style but still just as eye catching. They are good quality leather and the cap toe gives an interesting pop in an outfit
  2. Outer Layer: I added a sweater blazer in a neutral gray to add a layering effect to my classic outfit. This is similar to layering blankets, pillows, shams, etc to a bed. The added layering give off an interesting vibe!
  3. Accessories: I added my Gucci belt which really elevates the outfit. The logo is very striking! Bracelets and rings also add interest.
  4. Quality Bag: I am kind of obsessed with my Celine Mini Belt Bag and designer luxury bags in general. I think investing in a nice bag makes people notice that she has arrived! LOL! It can be any bag that you feel is high quality such Mansur Garviel, Tory Burch, Rebecca Minkoff, etc.
  5. Neutral Colors: I truly believe that an elevated chic classic outfit is usually in neutral colors. Don’t get me wrong. A soft pink or blue is pretty and can be chic as well. But there is something about neutral layers that is calming and you can mix and match your wardrobe so nicely!
